We all get knocked down. Resilience is getting back up again, knowing it could come again, unpredictably so. The best you can do is arm yourself with information, insight, and instructions.
Believe you can and that anything is possible. This is the only step if you want the secret shortcut, the answer in the back of the book, and how you need to double down and execute.
I’m here to support you in developing greater resilience. At Resilience Imagined, I share personal stories, the scientific principles, and practical techniques for coping with difficult times.

Free Like the Sun
Let me explain why I’d give away something valuable I’ve worked on for many years.
Jonas Salk is my inspiration. When I learned that he’d spent seven years developing the vaccine against polio and then chose not to profit from it, I was blown away by how he laughed at the idea.
“Could you patent the sun?” Salk asks, happy and carefree. Salk made me aware of how capitalism has influenced my behaviour and prompted me to question what we truly own.
To be obvious, what I’m offering here is no comparison to Salk’s. While I wasn’t always happy and carefree, these days, I am. I can’t offer you a vaccine for resilience, but I know that when the tough times return, I will never feel powerless again.
The Origin of the Content
Salk was a doctor, an MD. In academia, to become a Master, you must produce a written document of original content. You learn from many people and sources, then take it further.
An extrovert might create a podcast, interview many people, and produce a book summarizing the conversations.
I am a self-directed introvert, educated as an engineer, who relied heavily on my library cards full-time for more than five years. To each their journey.
A Journey of Resilience
In my journey, I am grateful to have been so blessed. Mistakes, missteps, mishaps, and all, for today, I know that adversity and opposition are the gifts we need to find our authentic selves and break into lives of true and lasting comfort.
I don’t need reimbursement for the opportunity to share these lessons with you, for the very idea is so absurd that I want to laugh just thinking about it.
While it’s my gift, I know you still have work; I can’t do it for you. If I could, I would. Instead, I made it as simple, accessible, easy to understand, and follow-through as possible, but I’d love your thoughts.
No matter what life throws at you, I’ve realized there’s no sense asking why me unless you want the answer so you can avoid it next time or warn others of your mistakes.
From My Life
First, I needed practical tools and techniques to break ingrained habits, confront crummy thinking, and keep on keeping on while attempting new things and not always getting it right. I called that Resilience Now.
Then, I needed a compass, and that became a set of five principles to guide my decisions and efforts. I called that Quality of Thought.
Next, I needed consistent progress, which required spotting the higher road, or the road less travelled, when the alternate seemed more inviting, quicker, or easier. I called that Practical Wisdom.
From the Workplace
From there, it was a matter of getting it done efficiently and effectively, as I had been teaching others how to do it, which was more a case of teaching them what to stop doing. I called that Counterintuitive Productivity.
It turns out the best way to get it done efficiently and effectively is to give it to someone who loves to do it, does it all the time, and can’t escape the results of his labours. That person, as I call it, demonstrates Rare and Remarkable Authenticity.
But you can’t get anything done alone – you need help and support from other people in specific places. From an introvert happy with my hermit status, I can attest to having learned what works because it was imperative for my survival in my corporate and consulting career. It’s Infinite Influence, if you need some.
In a corporate career of teaching Streamlining, Solving Problems and Innovation; this is the only content I would have taught if given the freedom. Sometimes, it’s not about what they learn, but what’s required to get the certification to get the contract to get the kickback…wait, did I say that last one?
In a world that values quality, morals, other human beings, and doing the right thing and knows that there is only this one planet, capitalism must be replaced with something that isn’t purely profit-driven. I call that Timeless Excellence.
I’m a dreamer. Having built sandcastles in the sky, I’m prepared to construct the foundations required to support big dreams. I’ve put in my years to earn the freedom to work at whatever I’d like, and this is the work I choose because, for you and me, it’s What Could Be.
To You
I hope I’ve adequately shared the warnings and answers to my trials, tribulations, research, and experiments. My wish is for you to fare better.
If not, please get in touch with me; I look forward to hearing from you.
